a time for planting and a time for harvest

There is little in this world more glorious than fresh produce! Steve and I love to garden, in fact our secret dream is to run a small u pick farm! We recently picked a gallon of blueberries at Briarpatch farm! Steve was of course the more serious picker of the pair. I wandered through the rows of trees, dreaming about being a laura Ingalls Wilder.

New Orleans

I just returned saturday from two weeks of mission trips! The first week was spent in New Orleans. I spent my Honeymoon in New Orleans so of course it holds a special place in my heart. The week was spent running a VBS, homeless ministry, prayer walking, volunteering in a food pantry, and visiting a nursing home. Of course we found the time to sample the local beignets and jambalaya!

Turning 26

It's my 26th birthday tomorrow. I was born on flag day, which I've always been a little proud of. I even dressed up as Betsy Ross for Halloween one year! We celebrated at Greenwoods which is a southern-homestyle restaurant with a hippie vibe. I love that they serve local homegrown foods! We celebrated with our good friends Molly and Patrick (Molly was my roommate when I lived in Australia). We dined on delectable fried green tomatoes, Fried chicken (with honey and cracked pepper), broccoli casserole, and homemade blackberry pie and ice cream. Steve always has a nack for picking out the perfect gift. This year he bought me a delicate gold chain with a rose pendant. I can't wait to see what this new year holds!
